BI Connector version 5.0 released on August 31, 2020. The release has made BI Connector better on 2 aspects:

  2. Ease of use

Let’s see what are the new capabilities and how we have enhanced the user convenience in using BI Connector.

New features

BI Connector now enables users to connect from new apps to OBIEE.

In BI Connector v5.0, we’ve added:

  1. Connectivity from Excel to OBIEE
  2. Support for Power BI Report Server

Connectivity from Excel to OBIEE

The users’ love for Excel hasn’t faded despite the availability of many visualization tools. The simplicity and ease of use that spreadsheets provide are in fact the reason behind the user affinity towards Excel.

So we’ve come up with the Excel to OBIEE connector in this release, v5.0. Now you can connect from Excel to OBIEE Subject Areas and Reports for your analysis.

The Power BI to OBIEE Connector now supports Excel to OBIEE connectivity also.

You can simply download and install the Power BI to OBIEE Connector, and connect Excel to OBIEE as well.

Support for Power BI Report Server

As many users are aware, the Power BI to OBIEE Connector was so far available in Desktop and Server editions for connecting Power BI Desktop and Service to OBIEE respectively.

The server edition supported scheduled refresh via the On-premise Gateway as well.

With the release of v5.0, BI Connector has just added another feather to the cap of the Power BI to OBIEE Connector by supporting connectivity from the Power BI Report Server to OBIEE.
