That is why we are happy to inform you that BI Connector v3.8 has just been released.<\/p>\n<p>BI Connector v3.8 offers two new features: <strong>an easier connection from Power BI to OBIEE using DirectQuery and visualizing OBIEE subject areas with Qlik Sense<\/strong>.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s dive into the details of the new features in BI Connector.<\/p>\n<h2>Connect from Power BI to OBIEE using DSN and DirectQuery<\/h2>\n<p>BI Connector in DirectQuery mode allows Power BI users to query live real-time data from OBIEE. Similar to Tableau&#8217;s live data connection, DirectQuery mode is a\u00a0query-then-import model whereas ODBC mode is an import-then-query model.<\/p>\n<p>BI Connector in DirectQuery mode allows Power BI users to query live real-time data from OBIEE. Similar to Tableau&#8217;s live data connection, DirectQuery mode is a\u00a0query-then-import model whereas ODBC mode is an import-then-query model. Learn more about DirectQuery and how it compares to ODBC approach in this article.<\/p>\n<p>In the previous version of BI Connector, users had to manually enter the OBIEE connection information every time for DirectQuery connection. This method was very cumbersome and time-consuming. However, the new BI Connector v3.8 has solved this problem by allowing users to connect to OBIEE using the pre-configured DSN name.\u00a0Connecting to OBIEE via DirectQuery is now easy and can be done in 3 simple steps:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li><a style=\"color: #7052e8;\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/2KrK8SgwC04\">Install BI Connector<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a style=\"color: #7052e8;\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Fb4Kt5lz3t8\">Create DSNs for OBIEE Subject Areas and Reports<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Connect from Power BI to OBIEE using the DSN. View the video bellow:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/m9nPygVTMSw?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>QlikSense to OBIEE Subject Area Connector<\/h2>\n<p>In BI Connector v3.7, we launched the QlikSense to OBIEE Reports Connector. Shortly after, organizations such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stratasys.com\">Stratasys<\/a>, the world leader in 3-D printing, are using this tool to\u00a0integrate QlikSense to OBIEE.<\/p>\n<p>We then noticed a limitation with BI Connector v3.7 was that users couldn&#8217;t create QlikSense visualizations from OBIEE subject areas. In order to visualize OBIEE data in QlikSense, users had to create a separate OBIEE report and then connect to it using BI Connector.
