{"id":3246,"date":"2021-06-25T17:01:34","date_gmt":"2021-06-25T17:01:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biconnector.com\/blog\/?p=3246"},"modified":"2021-06-30T07:59:07","modified_gmt":"2021-06-30T07:59:07","slug":"tableau-certified-bi-connector-plugin-for-connecting-to-obiee-oac-oas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biconnector.com\/blog\/tableau-certified-bi-connector-plugin-for-connecting-to-obiee-oac-oas\/","title":{"rendered":"Tableau Certified BI Connector Plugin (Beta Version) is Available Now!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Businesses of all sizes rely on Tableau to meet their BI and Analytics needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 3 major reasons for the wide adoption of Tableau is its data visualizations, user-friendliness, and connectivity to a wide variety of data sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, Tableau offers connectivity to traditional BI platforms such as Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most users connecting Tableau to OBIEE are using BI Connector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BI Connector is an ODBC (64-bit) driver used for connecting advanced Analytics platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, and Qlik to the traditional platform, OBIEE (and Oracle Analytics Cloud, Oracle Analytics Server as well).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until now, the users connecting Tableau to OBIEE via BI Connector relied on Tableau\u2019s native ODBC connector to connect to the DSNs they created using the BI Connector driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, we at BI Connector created our own plugin recently and got it certified by Tableau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plugin, <strong>BI Connector by Guidanz<\/strong>, is in beta phase now, and will move to general availability soon!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prerequisites from the BI Connector and Tableau siders to try the plugin are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>BI Connector v5.6 or above for both Desktop and Server editions<\/li><li>Tableau v2019.4 or above<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The plugin works seamlessly with both Tableau Desktop and Server clients, and will not affect the reports you already created using the native ODBC connector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, you can use Tableau\u2019s Replace Data Source option at any time, and replace the native ODBC with the BI Connector plugin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can install the plugin in both Desktop and Server machines, based on your needs by referring to the simple steps <a href=\"https:\/\/support.biconnector.com\/support\/solutions\/articles\/8000094119-how-to-configure-the-bi-connector-plugin-beta-version-for-tableau-step-by-step-user-guide\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your BI Connector license key will remain the same, and the same key can be used to connect to your OAC and OAS data sources as well!
